UN Mission in Colombia Press Release

Bogotá May 4, 2017 – Tomorrow, May 5, the UN Mission in Colombia will have received and stored in its containers 1,000 weapons from FARC-EP combatants that are concentrated in the camps. This number corresponds to the group of members of the Farc-EP that will fulfil tasks of the implementation of the peace agreement in relation to the observation of the cease-fire, substitution of illicit crops, humanitarian demining, peace pedagogy, inventory of goods, among others.

In the coming days, the Mission will deliver to the Government of Colombia the certificates of the   laying down of arms that will allow these members of the FARC initiate the process to legality.

The UN Mission encourages the Government of Colombia and the FARC-EP to conclude the positive talks started in the framework of the National Commission for Follow-up, Impulse and Verification of the Implementation of Peace Agreements (CSIVI for its acronym in Spanish) on compliance with the decisions taken at its meetings on March 26 in Cartagena.​
