UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs visits Colombia

New York, 19 June 2017. On Monday the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman will begin a four-day trip to Colombia to visit the United Nations Mission in Colombia to learn first-hand about the progress and challenges of the peace process implementation and to demonstrate the UN's support.

 

During his visit, USG Feltman will have meetings with senior government officials, leaders of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC -EP), members of civil society, members of the Catholic Church, the international community, and the United Nations country team. In addition, Mr Feltman will meet with international observers in one of the Transitional Zones where the ceasefire monitoring and the laying down of weapons are carried out.

 

Mr.Feltman will review the Mission´s progress toward the successful completion of its mandate, and the next steps for the Organization in supporting the implementation of agreements between the parties.
