At the end of its visit to Colombia, the UN Security Council have full confidence in the peace process.

La Reforma, Meta. May 5, 2017. At the close of the UN Security Council visit to Colombia, its actual President, the Uruguayan Ambassador Elbio Roselli stated “Our absolute confidence in Colombian people who are desperately seeking to confirm their peace process."

"It is expected to meet the D +180 deadline as originally planned," said Roselli at the conclusion of their visit at the Zone of Normalization (ZVTN acronyms in Spanish) in the Department of Meta.

The UK Ambassador, Matthew Rycroft the visits’ co-leader in cooperation with Uruguayan ambassador, highlighted the visit to the Zone. "It is inspiring to confirm the achievements since the signing of the peace agreement. All parties are fully committed to peace. This peace is irreversible. We have spoken in detail about some of the challenges of implementation, but what we have seen is determination and trust between the parties that convinces us this process will move forward and come to culmination“, the Ambassador added.

The 15 ambassadors from the UN Security Council visited this Friday, La Reforma in the Department of Meta with the company of the Representative of the Secretary General and head of the UN Mission in Colombia, Jean Arnault. The Colombian Foreign Minister María Ángela Holguín, Colombian Ambassador to the United Nations, María Emma Mejía, the High Commissioner for Peace, Sergio Jaramillo, and the leader of the FARC-EP, Iván Márquez.

The entire delegation of the UN, Government and FARC verified the progress in the implementation of the agreements in the Zone. They also had a meeting with community leaders that lives in the region.

The ambassadors will return to New York this Friday and in the upcoming weeks will present a report of this historic visit to Colombia.
