Press release – UN Mission in Colombia

Bogotá, 6 September 2017. The UN Mission in Colombia deeply regrets the death in a road accident of Dr. Ángela Rendón and nurse Katherine Quiroz of the San Juan de Dios Hospital de Ituango, who were assigned to the Local Office serving the Santa Lucia Territorial Area for Training and Reincorporation (TATR) located in Ituango in the department of Antioquia.

In addition, the driver of the ambulance, Andrés Banegas, as well as Lina Milena Gómez from the Colombian Civil Defence were injured and the Mission conveys its wishes to them for a speedy recovery.

The UN Mission acknowledges and appreciates the tireless efforts and dedication of all medical personnel who have worked in the previous Transitional Local Zones and Points of Normalization, now TATRs.

The personnel of the Mission send their most sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of Dr.  Rondón and nurse Quiroz and to the entire team of the TATR Local Office in Santa Lucia.
