The United Nations Mission in Colombia completed its Security Council mandate on 26 September 2017. The United Nations continues to provide support to the peace process through the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia, established by Security Council resolution 2377 (2017).

03 Oct 2016 - Llanos del Yari, Colombia - The UN Mission in Colombia verified today the destruction of 620 kg of explosives, detonators, gunpowder, grenades, mines, and bomb making components by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP).
The destruction was carried out in the Yari plains, Meta department, under the observation of experts and international observers from the UN Mission in the country.
30 Sep 2016 - Bogota - Nine representatives of the Government of Colombia, an equal number of members from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia—People’s Army (FARC-EP) and 18 international observers from the UN Mission in the country have started working together at the joint Monitoring and Verification Mechanism HQ, in Bogota.

Bogotá –Following the United Nations Security Council’s unanimous support to the UN Mission in Colombia for the second time, the Mission is ready to begin verifying and monitoring the bilateral ceasefire and laying down of arms once the peace agreement is signed on 26 September.
