UN Mission in Colombia delivered certificate of laying down of arms to 305 members of FARC - EP

Facatativa, June 12, 2017.  This Monday, 305 members of the FARC-EP took a new step in their process of reintegration into civilian life upon receiving the certificate of the laying down of individual weapons by the General Javier Pérez Aquino, Chief of Observer of the United Nations Mission in Colombia.
 
General Perez Aquino highlighted the commitment of the FARC-EP and the National Government to advance in the process of laying down of arms, while reiterating the Mission’s strong support to accompany the parties with the fulfilment of the mandate of verification and monitoring with the Tripartite Mechanism.
 
Following the protocols and agreement of the process of laying down of arms, the members of the FARC-EP receive the certificate by the UN Mission and an accreditation from the High Commissioner for Peace, Sergio Jaramillo that provide access to both the benefits and route of the reintegration into civilian life.
 
Mónica Cifuentes, head of the High Commissioner’s legal office and Mr. Iván Márquez, a member of the FARC-EP Secretariat attended the event. Along with the General Alvaro Pico Malaver, Director of Uniped, Diego Mora, Director of the National Protection Unit, Admiral Orlando Romero, representative of the National Government in the MV&M, as well as other members of the National Government, Mission United Nations and the FARC-EP.
