The United Nations Mission in Colombia completed its Security Council mandate on 26 September 2017. The United Nations continues to provide support to the peace process through the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia, established by Security Council resolution 2377 (2017).

The second phase of the laying down of Individual weapons by members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC -EP), that began last Tuesday in La Elvira, in the department of Cauca, concluded today Friday in the 26 Transitional Local Zones for Normalization and Transitory Points.

"It is expected to meet the D +180 deadline as originally planned," said Roselli at the conclusion of their visit at the Zone of Normalization (ZVTN acronyms in Spanish) in the Department of Meta.

The 15 ambassadors from the UN Security Council, and the Representative of the Secretary General and Head of the UN Mission in Colombia have arrived at the Zone of Normalization (ZVTN acronyms in Spanish) La Reforma, in the department of Meta. The main objective of the visit is to see first-hand the implementation of the peace agreement between the Government of Colombia and the FARC-EP.

On the first day of their visit to Colombia, the UN Security Council held a meeting with President Juan Manuel Santos, Chancellor María Ángela Holguín, Ambassador María Emma Mejía, and the post-conflict cabinet members. The Security Council gave a clear message of support to the implementation of the peace process in Colombia.
